This month, we decided to feature the Amaya Team at Guild Mortgage in McKinney, Texas. The Amaya team is run by a husband and wife duo, Pete and Chelsea. Together, they have a combined 17 years of experience in the mortgage industry. They both seem to find immense pride and joy in being members of the Guild team and serving their clients all over the McKinney area.

Shannon from First Western Title Frisco met with Chelsea for a short Q&A video to learn more about what they’re doing to impact their community – an area that Chelsea said she is incredibly enthusiastic about.

“We’re really passionate about helping people and feel that we can do that by working as loan officers in our community,” Chelsea said.

The Amayas live and work in The Square in downtown McKinney with their son, Christian, and two dogs, Bella and Lola. In their free time, they love watching movies and having game nights.

Being so close to work makes it easier for them to support and be involved with their community. Chelsea said she thrives on getting their name out and making sure people know who she is and what she does. That way, when the day comes that someone in their community needs a loan, they know that Pete and Chelsea might be able to help.

The Amaya Team prides itself on offering two grant programs by the State of Texas, one called TSAHC and the other Seth 5 Star, for families or individuals having a tough time, for example, pulling together a down payment.

“[The grants] allow qualified buyers up to 6% of the loan amount to use towards closing costs and a down payment,” Chelsea said. “It’s really great for those buyers who might have difficulty coming up with a down payment for the purchase of a new home.”

This is a grant, as Chelsea described, so the money is given by the State and there is no repayment for the life of the loan. She said she loves that she can help people who otherwise might not be able to buy a home, realize their dreams of buying. This grant is not only available to first-time homebuyers but anyone who is qualified and looking to buy a house.

Chelsea said that not many lenders offer these types of programs. On top of that, she added that they also pride themselves on offering excellent customer service and follow-up. She uses a three times per week communication and follow-up plan with their clients.

“We really strive ourselves for our top-notch customer service and treating our clients like family,” Chelsea said. We really believe in strong follow-up and being involved in the community. Thankfully, my husband is a Spanish speaker and we’re really passionate as well about helping the Spanish-speaking community.”

The bottom line: Chelsea said that their biggest goal overall is to help as many families as they can.
